isamplespace,buttheseatswerea littletoofirmforourlikingandthatdoes
comeintoconsiderationwhenwetalkaboutthehandling.
thetataharrier,ontheotherhand,didhavesofterseats,butthe
contoursandergonomicswerenotreallygreatforsomeonewitha slightly
leanerframe.it isn’tuncomfortablebutiimagineit’sbuiltforsomeone
larger.havingsaidthat,theharrierdoeshavethemostknee-roomforboth
thefrontandrearseats.
Wefoundthehyundaicretaa clearwinnerinthisregion.Better
contouredandwithsofterseatswhichgripyouinplacewhenatthewheel.
seat adjustments are also electronic, unlike the other two that have manual


adjustments.all thebuttonsandgizmosseem to be
closetohand;hence,youdon’tfindyourself reaching
foranything.a real nice place to be.

Powertrain
thecompassandtheharriersharethesame1,956-cc
four-cylinderenginebutsettoa differenttune.the
Jeepismoreofthefull-onhard-rock,metallica-loving
unittunedtoproduce 173 hpand 350 nmoftorque.
torquefiguresontheharrierarethesameat 350 nm,
butthetatalosesouton 33 horses,producing 140 hp.
in addition, even though torque figures are the same,
theJeepdoesfeela bitmorepunchywhenyoustepon
thego-pedal.
thehyundaicretaispoweredbya 1,582-ccfour-
cylinderenginethatproducesa moremoderate 128 hp
and 260 nmoftorque.however,thepowerdeliveryis
linear and you find the car havinga betterandwider
