a lighter main colour. After
the paint had dried, the
model was coated with
Mr Hobby GX100 Super
Clear III and after this had
dried, I applied the decals.
Over this, I applied Mr
Color clear for protection. I
painted the engine nozzles
before being mounting
them to the model. Heat
stained nozzle covers and
engines are a characteristic

element of the Tornado

and for realism they must

be perfectly reproduced in

the right colours. I used my

favourite metallisers from

AK Interactive's Xtreme

Metal series: Black Base

(AK471), Steel (AK476),

White Aluminium (AK478),

Dark Aluminium (AK480),

Gun Metal (AK483) and

Pale Burnt Metal (AK485).

After obtaining the right

effect, the covers and nozzles

were fitted to the model.

I really like playing with

colours, so I also mixed the

colour-washes myself at

this stage, using artist's oil

paints. I used a blue-grey

colour-wash on the whole

model, and some lines were

accented with a dark grey

colour-wash.
