FIAT 131 ABARTH RALLY
http://www.hobbyco.net
SCALE: 1:24
MATERIALS: IM, SVT, WS
ITEM NO.3662
This is at least the eleventh
re-issue of Esci’s 1970s FIAT
131 rally, but do not write it
off because of its age; it’s still
an excellent model of FIAT’s
boxy racer. As is often the case
with these older Esci-originated
models, the most important
element – the bodyshell – is
excellent, with an accurate
profile and very decent detail.
With a good bodyshell in hand,
that’s 90% of the model sorted
and in the case of this release,
the cabin and underpinnings
are pretty good too. The engine
is well detailed (wiring will be
needed) and it can be seen
thanks to the removable bonnet.
The prop-shaft, differential and
drive-shafts are all individual
mouldings, as are the shock
absorber/springs and trailing-
arm suspension parts, all nice
touches. In this iteration we
find the very attractive blue
and white scheme of Walter
Röhrl/CH Geisdörfer’s No.10
car and again, with these recent
re-issued kits, Italeri’s decals are
absolutely gorgeous, printed
in perfect register and with a
lustrous gloss finish. Look past
the kit’s 1970s vintage and you
will find a gem of a kit just
waiting to be up-detailed.

HEINKEL HE111H-20
http://www.icm.com.ua
SCALE 1:48
MATERIALS; IM, WS
ITEM NO.48264
The Heinkel He111 was the
wartime Luftwaffe’s principal
heavy bomber and its design
is synonymous with the ‘Blitz’.
The streamlined canopy is a
distinctive element of the He111
and ever since the first model
kit of the aircraft, it has been a
challenge for modellers to mask
and paint! ICM have created a
neat line of ‘111 variants and
the H-20 is the latest. This
machine was upgraded with a
pair of Jumo 211F-2 engines and
carried more powerful radio
gear and defensive armament.
The kit comes in a deep box,
packed to the brim with plentiful
sprues of grey polystyrene and
there sure are a lot of parts. A
very full interior is provided as
standard, with detailed pilot’s
controls in evidence to be
observed through all that clear
canopy, although you’ll need to
source your own seat harnesses;
Eduard will come to the rescue
here. The bomb-aimer and
dorsal gunner’s stations are well
detailed too, but the ‘busiest’
zones are the engine nacelles
which are both provided with
lovely replicas of the Jumo inline
V12 engines and their mounts.

Fabulous 1970s car in a
beautiful livery. Superb
bodyshell and a very
decent interior too

A superb replica of this
famous WW2 Luftwaffe
bomber with heaps of
detail inside and out
A little parts clean-up
will be required, but
that’s just modelling!

Seat harnesses will need
to be purchased from
the Eduard
