backcountry and unknowns lurking
under the powder.
Matthew Jensen is a backcountry
rider that was given the opportunity to
test ride the sled. “I found it to be the
most responsive and easiest to put on
edge of any sled I have ridden,” he says.
This response was echoed by our test
riders who appreciated the sled’s respon-
sive, light handling and sporty feel that
let the rider wheelie through terrain, eas-
ily change direction, and provide rider
input with weight shifts instead of upper
body muscle maneuvers. Test rider,
Lonnie Thompson, especially valued the
shocks and their handling of big drops.
KHAOS comes with an upgrade in
shocks that are set to meet the needs of
the backcountry and provide a better
overall ride. The Walker Evans Velocity
shocks come standard and by design pro-

vide a plush feel in the first portion of
the shock with a stiffer response at the
bottom. This allows for a comfortable
ride on the chatter of a trail, but the abil-
ity to take the big drops. The Velocity
brand shocks are not new, they have
been heavily tested and found worthy on
both the Hill Climb and Snocross circuits
and are a welcome addition for the back-
country rider.

Some additional features include the
Polaris Interactive Digital Display
(PIDD), while not new, is one of the best
in the industry for those that appreciate
the techie stuff. PIDD is easy to read and
includes a lot of information, including
any codes your snowmobile may throw at
you. There is an option to record what
your clutch is doing in real time, and the
sled is GPS-enabled allowing you to drop
pins on your favorite honey holes.
Other comfort features that Polaris
nailed include, a shorter seat that allows
the rider to easily swing a leg over, and
its PowderTrac XT running boards that
offer sure footing performance and are
designed for easier sidehilling and riding
in deep snow.
A fantastic offering by Polaris, the
KHAOS is a treat for aggressive moun-
tain riders, and a sweet addition to the
company’s backcountry fleet!
