THEIR tranquil streets are normally the By Xantha Leatham
perfect place to spend a bank holiday pot-
tering around in the garden
But for residents of Chantry Town, this
weekend threatens to be anything but
peaceful – thanks to a former neighbour.
Pop star Ed Sheeran, who grew up in the
Ipswich suburb, is giving four huge con-

certs in the park their homes back on to.
While for some that means they can enjoy
the music without having to fork out £90
for a ticket, others will find their living
rooms reverberating to hits such as The A
Team and Thinking Out Loud whether they

like the songs or not. An enormous stage,
from which the 28-year-old will perform
to a total of 160,000 screaming fans over
four nights from tonight, has been built at
the bottom of their gardens.
Aerial pictures show the structure tow-
ering over the neat redbrick homes,
shielded from them by only a line of trees.

Roads around the park are likely to be
heavily congested and extra parking
restrictions have been put in place. Tickets
for Sheeran’s homecoming concerts cost
between £82.50 and £93.50.
The shows are part of a 260-date tour that
will see Sheeran play to 8.5million fans in 43
countries, grossing a record £650million.
