James: Injury
led to my split
STRICTLY star James Cracknell
yesterday spoke of how his
marriage fell apart after a brain
injury changed his personality.
The Olympic rower, 47, suffered
a fractured skull and serious
brain injury when he was hit by a
lorry while cycling in Arizona, US,
in 2010.
Cracknell, below, and TV
presenter wife Beverley Turner, 45,
announced their split in March.
Their divorce was finalised in July.
The father of three admitted:
“Bev had it really hard. She
had one husband for the first
eight years we were married
and a very, very different one
for the rest.”
He added: “It is a
misunderstood illness, a
hidden illness that really
affects people around
you, and Bev
definitely bore
the brunt of it.”

me” and she protested: “It’s not
for me!
“Not in a million years! I’d be
terrible, I’d be sliding down the
walls. No, just the one for me.”
Her comments came days after
she and professional dancer Kevin,
36, returned to the show to per-
form one of their routines for the
first recording of this year’s series.
He will then be partnered with a
new female celebrity.
It was during Friday’s filming
that judge Revel Horwood, 54, left
Stacey’s mum in tears when he
told the audience that the winner
had been “dragged up from the
dance gutter”.
Journalist Stacey started a rela-
tionship with her Strictly partner
after the series finished.
And the acid-tongued judge
quipped: “Of course, if you
sleep with your dance partner,
that helps.”
Shocked BBC bosses immedi-
ately halted production and told
Craig to apologise.
He later issued a grovelling apol-
ogy, which said: “I’m
deeply sorry for the offence
caused to Kevin and Stacey
and everyone who works on
the show.
“I recognise that what I
said was hurtful, cruel and
incredibly disrespectful.
“It was a huge error
of judgment that I very
much regret.”
Strictly returns
on Saturday,
BBC1, 7.10pm.

Craig Revel Horwood apologised
STRICTLY winner Stacey Dooley
would be “sliding down the walls”
with jealousy if she had to share
boyfriend Kevin Clifton with
another woman.
The 2018 champ was speaking
after judge Craig Revel Horwood
landed in hot water when he made
a bitchy joke at her expense at the
new series’ launch.
Appearing on Channel 4’s
Sunday Brunch, Stacey was
quizzed by hosts Tim Lovejoy and
Simon Rimmer on her upcoming
documentary series Stacey Dooley
Sleeps Over.
She said: “There’s a polyam-
orous family” before Simon inter-
rupted to ask: “What does that
mean?”
Stacey, 32, laughed: “So, more
than two people in a loving rela-
tionship... you’re not sold, are you
Tim?”
He said: “Well, it’s not for
