BSLBT on Social

Social media platforms
play an important role
in keeping today’s Deaf
communities in touch,
and the ability to
upload sign language
videos means that
there are no barriers to
communication.

As you would expect,
social has provided
BSLBT with brand
new ways to connect
with our audience and
we’ve established a
strong, BSL-focussed
presence across
all the major
platforms.

As Deaf
people tend
to favour visual
information, videos
and photographs
dominate our social
media feeds. Snippets
from our comedies are
especially popular on
Facebook; for example,
the spoof “Hearing
Awareness” training
session from our BSL
sketch show, Deaf
Funny, has clocked up
over 150,000 views.
As if that’s not enough,

views of the even more
popular “Deaf Class”
sketch (inspired by the
‘Class System’ sketch
with John Cleese) have
topped 300,000.

We keep our followers
updated on our
programmes from the
moment they receive
the green light onwards

  • from castings and the
    latest production news,
    right through to the
    film festivals they go
    to and the awards that
    they win.

Currently at
approximately 25,000,
our Facebook page’s
“Likes” have doubled
since 2016 and our
Twitter followers have
increased by 50% in
the same time, now at
around 7,500. Since
its establishment in
2017, our Instagram
account has gained
over 3,000 followers
and our fledgling
Pinterest platform is
also growing.
