EVIE BUCKLEY 26
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER,
ACME FILMS
Nominated by: Jaimie D’Cruz,
creative director, Acme Films
As an assistant AP with no official
role on the production, Evie
Buckley volunteered to retrieve
the rushes from a BBC2 shoot
in the occupied Palestinian
territories, standing her ground
when she came under pressure to
hand over drives and returning
them safely.
It’s not only her trouble-shooting
ability that has impressed those
who have worked with Evie – her
pitching, production, editorial and
relationship-building skills make
her a gifted all-rounder.
Jonathan Smith, former creative
director at The Garden, who has
worked with her several times,
says: “Evie has developed from
a brilliant development producer
to an all-round executive who’s
equally at home pitching ideas,
finding new talent, taking care of
contributors or working in the
cutting room.”
Her pitching skills are
invaluable, according to Acme
Films’ Jaimie D’Cruz. They
helped the indie secure its first
Channel 5 commission after
she secured access and wrote a
treatment for a single film about
the partners of prisoners.
Evie has now glided effortlessly
into an executive producer’s role
at the age of 26, providing key
strategic and everyday support
as a co-executive to D’Cruz on a
seven-part series for YouTube.
D’Cruz says: “She has excep-
tional editorial strengths across
the board and she always adds
value and brings new insight to
ideas from others.”
