Ermelo – The OTVL Bull and Ram sale was held on
30 and 31 July at the Ermelo Showgrounds.
The highest-priced animal was the Drakensberger bull
WA 00 6, which was sold by Petrus Taljaard of Talman
Drakensberger in Ermelo to Koos van Niekerk of Amersfoort
for R105 000. Drakensberger bulls averaged R56 527.
Braford bulls achieved an average price of R51 250,
Simbra bulls averaged R48 846, Beefmaster and Brangus
bulls averaged R47 500, Simmentaler bulls averaged
R43 482, and Huguenot bulls averaged R43 055. Brahman
bulls averaged R41 354, Bonsmara bulls R41 250, Sussex
bulls R37 500, Boran and Charolais bulls R35 000,
Limousin bulls R34 583, and Hereford bulls R27 500.
The highest-priced ram was a Merino veld ram,
which was sold by Jan Greyling of Wakkerstroom to
Stefan Landman of Wakkerstroom for R40 000. Merino
veld rams were sold for an average of R10 296.
SA Mutton Merino rams achieved an average price of
R9 538, while Merino rams averaged R8 227. Ile de France
rams averaged R8 884, Merino Landskaap rams
R7 125, and Dohne Merino rams R4 333.
The sale was conducted by Vleissentraal Ermelo, with Paul
