BOLTON, one of the founding

members of the Football

League, are in a desperate fight

to survive with the club hurtling

towards liquidation if a deal to

buy it cannot be revived.

The League One outfit’s joint

administrator, Paul Appleton,

warned yesterday that Bolton

could go out of business if a deal

with Football Ventures, which

collapsed over the weekend,

cannot be rescued and pushed

through at the last minute.

Bolton have until 5pm today to

satisfy the EFL or face a

fortnight’s expulsion notice.

Liquidation would see more

than 150 employees lose their

jobs and Bolton facing the

prospect of reapplying for

non-League status next year.

‘In just over 24 hours, the club

will have its membership of the

EFL revoked,’ said Appleton in a

statement. ‘Over and above

that, the club is currently not in

a position to carry on trading

and, as such, the process of

closing down the company will

commence on Wednesday.

‘This will ultimately lead to its

liquidation, the expulsion of the

set his heart on a switch to

It means that after a

summer of huge uncertainty,

Eriksen is increasingly likely

to stay in north London until

at least January. He is in the

final year of his contract and

can leave Tottenham for noth-

ing at the end of the season.

Spurs have offered Eriksen a

new deal — Sportsmail under-

stands it is worth more than

£200,000 per week — that

would make the midfielder the

second best paid player at the

club behind Harry kane. But

Eriksen has insisted that his

decision will not be motivated

by money.

Sources close to the player

have indicated he wants a

new challenge in a different

country at one of European

football’s elite clubs.

As it stands, Eriksen’s repre-

sentatives have made it clear

that they do not want to hold

further talks over a contract

extension.
