Third buying
farmed pups
NEARLY a third of UK dog
owners may have unwit-
tingly got pets from puppy
farms, a poll has found.
The Kennel Club, which
accredits breeders, also
said 60% of owners buy
pups online without seeing
them first and 25% pick a
pet in under two hours.
It claims online sellers
often use puppy farms that
keep dogs in poor condi-
tions and leave them frail.
The Mirror campaigned
for Lucy’s Law that in April
bans the sale of pups not
reared with their mother.

‘booze pubs’
THE number of leased
pubs relying on booze sales
rather than food has fallen
25% to 13,000 in five years.
Overall, the drop in pub
numbers is 2% a year,
according to analysts CGA
and AlixPartners.
But the rate is slowing as
many go independent or
turn to food – with fare like
Turkish and Thai popular.
CGA’s Karl Chessell said:
“These are turbulent times
but popularity of certain
cuisines and the revival of
managed pubs provide
grounds for optimism.”

and colour schemes but the cost
was spiralling. I was chatting to
Christopher, moaning about the
costs, and then we just said,
‘Why don’t we do it together?’.”
Christopher added: “I didn’t
think we could afford to get
married. It was special day.”
Their dad Colin Brennan, 61,
said: “That’s how close Andrea
and Christopher are. They
decided to help each other out.
They’ll now share anniversaries.”
