NISSAN LEAF E+
On sale now
from £35,895
The new flagship Leaf e+ from
Nissan is the latest flagship in
the firm’s electric hatchback
range. Building on the success of
the latest generation Leaf,
the e+ gets a larger
62kWh battery with an
extended 239 mile
range on a full charge
- considerably up
on the standard
40kWh model.
As well as that
improved range,
there’s also an uplift
in performance from
the standard Leaf with,
somewhat incredibly, no
compromise to the interior
from the larger battery –
there’s still a 405 litre boot.
As well as an upgraded sat nav
system, there’s also a Nissan’s
ProPilot driving assistance tech
as standard, which allows the car
to stop, restart and remain in its
lane at both low and high speeds.
RENAULT ZOE
On sale October
from £20,500
We love the electric Renault Zoe
and this third-generation of the
French supermini looks to be
better than ever. While its
exterior design hasn’t
radically changed, under
the skin it’s a very
different machine
indeed with a new
52kWh battery and a
substantially longer
maximum range of
242 miles on a full
charge. There’s also
an option of two
different motors for
extra performance.
Inside, there’s a total
redesign with Renault’s now
trademark portrait-style centre
touchscreen. Furthermore,
there’s a new B mode for
additional regenerative braking
enabling you to effectively drive
only using the throttle pedal
- similar to Nissan’s e-pedal
in its Leaf.

HONDA E On sale spring 2020
est from £30,000
No doubt this new electric Honda e will be one of
the cutest superminis to arrive into showrooms
next year. Its styling has barely changed from
the original concept car, although door mirrors
are replaced by aerodynamic side cameras.
Honda has received an incredible 36,000
expressions of interest for the Honda e (with
over 9,000 from potential UK buyers), so
there’s likely to be a long waiting list. The only
downside will be the 125 mile range from its
35.5kWh battery given rivals like the new
Peugeot 208 and next generation Zoe, which
can travel considerably further, and the price.
KIA SOUL EV On sale early 2020
from £33,795
This new Soul EV will be initially available in
high-spec First Edition guise and comes with a
64kWh battery giving it a respectable 280 mile
range. An 80 per cent charge can be delivered
in just an hour and a quarter, while it will come
with charging cables for both a Type 2
connector and also a three-pin plug – not
something that’s always the case. Android Auto
and Apple Carplay will be standard and there
will be LED lights front and rear. If the already
lengthy waiting lists for the Niro are anything to
go by, however, you’d better be quick as this
new Soul is sure to be popular.
MG ZS EV On sale now
from £21,495
This new all-electric version of MG’s ZS should
put the baby crossover onto car buyer’s maps.
Not only does the ZS boast a 163 mile range
from its 44.5kWh battery, but the first 1,000
customers can buy it at just £21,495, including
the installation of a home charging point.
The Excite and Exclusive versions have MG
Pilot as standard, which includes adaptive
cruise control, advanced emergency braking
and lane keep assist. Inside is an 8in colour
touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Android
Auto, a panoramic roof and 448 litre boot.
MINI ELECTRIC On sale March 2020
From £24,400
Celebrating the Mini’s 60th anniversary,
the new Mini Electric will start production
at its factory in Oxford late this year, prior
to them arriving into showrooms in spring
next year. Initially only available in three-
door hatchback form, the Mini Electric now
gets a 32.6kWh battery with a maximum
range on a full charge of up to 144 miles.
Unlike many electric cars, the Mini’s
practicality hasn’t been compromised
retaining a 211 litre boot (731 litres with
the seats folded down), while it will also
be capable of the 0 to 60mph sprint in
just 7.3 seconds. It will come with charging
cables for both home and public charging
as standard and be available in three
trim levels on a finance leasing deal
from £299 per month.
