The architect Min Woosik (principal, Min Workshop) is bold in his use of form. Emphasising form in architecture requires a certain courage because it involves
facing a self-induced critique of one’s personal aesthetic sense and a constant feeling of déjà vu, as one is reminded of the defining forms of other architects and
structures. So this experimentation with form does not depreciate and become an empty effort, one not only requires a self-acquired internal logic but also
intuitive energy and strategy that can persuade individuals with space. For this purpose, and echoing Chang Yongsoon’s (professor, Hongik University) words,
Min ‘metaphorises and reinterprets original form’. He creates a form in whiche empty pillars support the roof (Durastack Headguarters), manifests an open
horizontal space with a vaulted roof in a residential building (Vault House), and showcases architectural deception (Café TONN) by either hiding the structure
or exposing it excessively, thereby artfully tracing out the existence of a building itself. edited by Park Semi designed by Ko Insu photographed by Hwang Hyochel (unless
otherwise indicated) materials provided by Min Workshop
