FormerMarylandcongressmanand longshot 2020
Democratic presidential candidateJohn Delaneyappar-
ently had sometrouble finding iced coffee in Boston
Thursday.
Delaney tweeted that he was offered Guinness when
he triedto orderan iced coffee at an unnamedBoston
bar.
“Boston is great,” he tweeted. “I go to a bar and ask for
an iced coffee. The bartender says with a smile ‘Can’t
help yaahbut I can pour some Guinness over ice.’ ”
The tweet left more questions than answers. Did Dela-
ney take the bartenderup on his offer? How many
Dunkin’ locations did he pass before arriving at the bar?
Who asks for iced coffee at a bar, anyway?
Some Twitter users chided Delaney for his drinkorder

and tweeted mapsof the dozens of Dunkin’ locations in
the Boston area.
Delaney told the GlobeThursday that he went into the
bar because it was close to the Boston Public Library,
where he was headed for an interview, and he asked the
bartender for an iced coffee.
“And he was reallynice,
and he smiled and said,
you know, ‘Don’t have
that,’ ” before offering
the Guinness.
Delaney did not
take the bartender up
on his offer, but the
staff was able to find
him some coffee and a
cup of ice after all.
“Trust me, I like
Guinness,I’m Irish,”
Delaney said.“It was
all in very good spirit.”

GiseleBundchenis not keeping
quiet about the massive wildfires in
the Amazon rain forest, placing the
blameon “opportunists” who plan
to “destroy and clear the forest.”
“The forest plays a key role in
balancing the Earth’s climate and
consequently in our lives,” Bund-
chenwrote on Instagram on
Wednesday. “We cannotclose our
eyes to what is happening in the
Amazon. The increased burnings
have been destroying in days, what
nature takes years, centuries to
build.
“I’ve spent a lot of time there
and was able to see closelyhow ev-
erything happens, especially how
opportunists take advantage of the
dry season to destroy and clearthe
forest,” Bundchen continued. “De-
forestation in the Amazon has to
stop... for our health and the
health of our planet!”
A number of environmentalists
echoedBundchen’s sentiments in
interviews with CNN, suggesting
that the fires in the Amazon were
likely set by cattle farmers and log-
gers able to take advantage of the
pro-businesspolicies of Brazil’s
right-wing president,JairBolson-
aro.

According to multiple reports,
Bolsonaro stated that he believed
nonprofit organizations intention-
ally started the fires, while provid-
ing no evidence for his claim.
Earlier this year,Te rezaCristina
Dias,the country’s Bolsonaro-
backed agriculture minister, criti-
cizedBundchenfor causingpublic
relations problems for Brazil with
herenvironmentalactivism.
“Sorry, Gisele Bundchen,” Diaz
said, per multiple reports, in the in-
terview, which was conducted in
Portuguese. “You should be an am-
bassador and say that your country
conserves, that your country is on
theglobalvanguardofconserva-
tion, and not go aroundcriticizing
Brazil without knowing the facts.”

Former presidentBarackObama
and his wife,Michelle, are reportedly
looking at buyinga $14.85 million
mansion on Martha’s Vineyard.
And not just any mansion— the
former first couple are looking to buy
noneother than Boston Celtics co-
ownerWyc Grousbeck’sestate, ac-
cording to TMZ. The Obamas are cur-
rently in escrowfor less than the list-
ing price, TMZ reports, citing
“multiple island sources.”
The listing agent for the property
declinedcomment when reached by
the Globe. A Celtics representative al-
so declined comment; a spokesperson
for Obama could not immediately be
reached.
In 2017, a spokesmanfor Obama
vehemently denied that the familywas
looking at buying property on the is-
land,saying that the rumorswerenot
true (even underlining the word “not”
in his e-mail to the Globe).
Still, it’s not like the Obamas are
strangers to the island: They regularly
visited Martha’s Vineyard for vacation
during Obama’s eight years of presi-
dency and continued the tradition by
visiting againthis month.
In fact, the Obamashad beenrent-
ing Grousbeck’s home — a seven-bed-
room, 8½-bathroom estate spanning
nearly 7,000 square feet on more than
29 acres, according to a listing — dur-
ing their vacation to the Massachu-
setts island this summer.
Grousbeck’s Edgartownhouse has
beenon the market for four years. He
originally listed it for more than $
million but has since dropped the
price, according to realtor.com.
The custom-designed estate sits on
EdgartownGreat Pond, overlooking
the water. It has several placesto sit or
entertain, a modern chef’s kitchen,
and a formal, circular dining room
“surrounded by a wall of windows
overlooking the grounds,” according to
the listing. The living room features

vaultedceilings with exposed steel
beams, as well as a stone fireplace.
The Obamas would surely be com-
fortablein the master suite, which fea-
tures yet another fireplace, as well as a
private deck and “spectacular water
views,” the listing states. There are al-
so not one, buttwoguest wings.
Outside the house, a swimming
pool is located in a “garden-like set-
ting” with “the sounds of the waves
lapping in the distance.” Listing pho-

tos also show a path that leads from
the house down to the water.
It also features a Jacuzzi on a sec-
ond-floorbalcony, a screened-in porch
with a fireplace, a two-car garage, a
“pristine” boathouse, and a private
beach.
“A property of this stature needsto
be seen to be experienced,” the listing
says.
The location of the property might
be beneficial for more than lazy water-

front days: It’s only a 3-mile drive to
the Vineyard Golf Club, whereObama
has been spotted playing in the past.
More recently, he was also seen hitting
the links at Farm Neck Golf Club this
month with former Celtics playerRay
Allenand Golden State Warriors star
StephCurry. (His past Martha’s Vine-
yard golfing partners have included
film directorSpike Lee, “Seinfeld” cre-
atorLarry David, and fashion designer
Kenneth Cole.)
The Obamas are also frequently
seen taking advantage of all the island
has to offer, including going on bike
ridesand lounging on the beach.
The Obamas vacationed on Mar-
tha’s Vineyard all but one year the for-
mer presidentwas in office (during his
2012 reelection campaign), and con-
tinued going after he left the White
House. They tended to stay about two
weeks or less each trip, and would
mostly keep a low profile. The family
has previously rented a seven-bed-
room home in Chilmark, on the other
side of the island fromwhere Grous-
beck’s home is located.
As for wherethe Obamas like to
eat, they have previously been spotted
at the Sweet Life Cafe, the Cardboard
Box (where the president drew a huge
crowd last summer and basically “shut
the town down”), the Red Cat Kitchen.
And they might visit Nancy’s Restau-
rant & Snack Bar for old time’s sake —
since then-15-year-old daughterSasha
held downa summer job there in
2016.
With the potential sale, the Obam-
as wouldjoin a slew of celebrities who
own homes on the island, including
Carly Simon, Cole, David,Seth Mey-
ers,Bill Murray,JohnKerry, andAlan
Dershowitz.
