One of the key stallions in this
line was Mak (Korej x Madila),
foaled in 1956 and another
exceptional athlete. He was not

won the three-day-event

championship of the Soviet Union
in 1965. He did not sire many
foals, but one of them was the
chestnut stallion Kumir 1973 (x
Kapella), one of Tersk’s most
significant sires. He was a good
racehorse himself, with 10 wins
and placings out of 17 starts. Five
of his sons were used for
breeding, and between them
created an international dynasty.
Kumir’s most important son at
Tersk was the magnificent liver
chestnut Mukomol, foaled in 1979
out of the Aswan daughter
Malinka. Many of his sons were
exported, the most successful of
them being Grand 1984 (x
Nevesta) with sons in both
Holland and Britain. At Tersk,
Mukomol was succeeded by his
sons Narmat 1987 (x Nevesta)
and Namaz 1988 (x Nutria), who

between them sired three of the
current chief sires: Gangut 1998
(by Narmat x Gerda), Negus 1994
(by Namaz x Gerda), and Angleter
2003 (by Namaz x Assol). The
Mukomol son Alkhimik 1999 (x
Agata), 2009 Russian National
Champion Stallion, was also used
for a time.
There is another branch of
Mak’s line at Tersk through
Sarkazm, a 1979 Kumir son out of
Sopernitsa. His sons Status 2000
(x Svita) and Gusliar 2000 (x
Gvardia) have been used at Tersk,
so the line appears to be quite
well represented at present.
The Kumir son Pakistan, also
foaled in 1979 out of an Aswan
daughter, Panagia, was used at
stud in Holland, Britain, and
especially Abu Dhabi where he
has numerous offspring.
Pakistan’s most famous son was
the superb Bespechny 1987
(x Bionika), who was British
National Champion Stallion
among many other wins.
