Getting it all in one —
which is what the Arabian
horse used to be all about

  • is a more complex and
    demanding goal, now more
    than ever.

    racehorses themselves.
    Dormane won the Dubai
    Stakes and another five
    major races, and Djelfor
    won five stakes in France
    as a three-year-old. Both
    have sired numerous
    winners and breeding
    sons, with Dormane, a
    national sire since 1989,
    having the advantage
    since he lived much longer.
    Djelfor was also a national
sire, but died in 1999, only
    15 years old. Nevertheless
he sired a huge number of
    sons, the most famous of
    which was Akbar 1990
    (x Fantasia), exported to
    the Emirates. Unlike
    Djelfor, Akbar lived to a
    good old age, was actively
    breeding mares when he
    was well over 20, and
    sired a large number of
    sons that are still
    breeding.
    Dormane, who was out
of a half Polish dam with
    two additional crosses to
    Denouste, also lived to a
    good age and was still
    siring foals in his late
    twenties. Dormane is the
