“This particular race is huge, and we have won it now,”
said trainer Julian Smart.
The win was part of a remarkable racing week for
owner Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani of Qatar
and Smart. The Qatar International Stakes was run on a
Wednesday. On the preceding Sunday, they won two
stakes on the Dubai International Arabian Racing

Qatar International Stakes at Goodwood
Racecourse on a foggy and wet day in 2017.
Last year, back at Goodwood in the same race with
better conditions, but Ebraz finished second by 1 ½
lengths to the fine miler Muraaqib.
This year on July 31, Ebraz was sent yet again to
Goodwood for the $488,000 Qatar International Stakes.
This time, Ebraz (Amer x Massamarie by Tidjani) was
brilliant. Already rated as one of the finest runners in
recent years, Ebraz won the Qatar International Stakes
by 2 ¾ lengths.
