or outfits and thought, “I didn’t
look very nice in that.”
Are you a hoarder or do you clear
out your wardrobe each season?
I’m a hoarder. I like clutter. I don’t
understand minimalists. People
who have capsule wardrobes –
they must be magical creatures.
How many shoes and handbags
do you own? I tend to wear the
same pair of brown flats, but I’ve a
few heels for events. Bags I love,
the weirder or more whimsical the
better. I’ve cupboards full.
What is your favourite outfit?
Anything floral.
How much do you spend on
clothes each month? Ooh, I can’t
answer that. It feels too showy-
offy. Probably too much.
What is the most expensive item
in your wardrobe? And your best
bargain? Two Gucci bags, £850
each, are the most expensive. I
went shopping with Pearl and she
had her first, full-on tantrum in the
shop. I was so flustered I ended
up buying both bags. My best
bargain? A winter pea coat from
Sainsbury’s, less than £30.
Who would you like to make your
wedding dress? I’ve the one my
mum wore, which is very 80s,
all ruffles and frills. It’s actually
hideous, but precious because it
was my mum’s. If there is a
wedding on the horizon, I would
love to see if a seamstress could

use some of the material from
my mum’s dress and make it into
a new one.
What is your favourite piece of
jewellery? A Cartier mother-of-
pearl ring I bought after I gave
birth to Pearl. So many people
were saying, “When is Liam going
to propose” with me replying, “I
don’t care if he does or not”
(spoiler: I do), then Esther, my BF,
said why don’t you buy your own
ring? So we went to Selfridges.
I saw this ring and the assistant
said it’s mother-of-pearl and Esther
said, “You’re the mother of Pearl,
you need that ring.” So I bought it,
went back to our hotel and Esther
made a speech about me vowing
to cherish myself. We filmed it.
A month later Sky News picked it
up and did a news piece about the
woman who proposed to herself.
Have you ever made a fashion
faux pas? Many times, but probably
when I met Prince Charles and my
skirt broke, I exclaimed, my button’s
popped off and he laughed as I
looked in vain for it on the floor.
Which item of clothing would you
save from a burning house? I’d
make sure my children, boyfriend
and three cats were out, then I’d
grab my mum’s wedding dress.

Louise Pentland’s new novel, Wilde
Women (Zaffre, £12.99), is out now.
