Wayside’s Heart Cafe in
Bondi Beach? “To raise
money for the Wingspan
Project [a training and
employment initiative that
helps disadvantaged people
aged 17-25 years old] and
to support unemployed
young people get into paid
hospitality traineeships.”
What would you
recommend we order? “The
Middle Eastern Breakfast,
$18 [poached free-range
eggs, minted labne, haloumi,
harissa, tomato and
pomegranate salad on
sourdough bread].”( left)
I wish people would... “Donate clothes,
money and time to Wayside. People
can donate at waysidechapel.org.au.”
What or whom motivates you? “My
children [Audrey, 17, Albee, 13 and
stepdaughter Holiday Sidewinder, 28].”

“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless
Mind [2004].” ( left)

watching? “Our Planet [Netflix] and The
Weekly With Charlie Pickering [ABC-TV].”

“No man is a financial plan.”
The last book you read? “My Israel Question

How do you prioritise self-care? “Secure
your own oxygen mask before you
assist others.”
What has been your proudest moment?
“My Buddhist-practising father tells me
pride is not recommended.”
Who would be at your dream dinner
party? “Never meet your heroes! I’d
love to bring both my grandmothers
back from the grave and discover if all
the rumours are true. Sadly, I never
met either of them.”
Is there one thing we would be surprised
to learn about you? “My
brother suffers acutely
from schizophrenia.”
When you travel, what do
you miss most from home?
“Not much! Hopefully I’m
fully immersed where I am.”

“Podcasts, a cardigan and
a friendly neighbouring
passenger to lie on.”
