PICTURE PERFECT
What’s the one thing Svetlana Lazareva would
change about her wedding if she had a do-over?
Maybe the date. She and Brian McSweeney
married on September 25, 2015, at a mansion
near the United Nations on its 70th anniversary,
when the city was flooded with dignitaries
and the pope was scheduled to speak. “Brian
appealed to police at the barricade, and they
kindly escorted him and his groomsmen in,”
she says. Her favorite parts of the day? Her
Amsale corset gown (“Pockets!”); the Lithuanian
food (for her birthplace) and Irish (for her
husband’s); and their Keith Haring–inspired
cake: “The characters were dancing, happy,
and in love and it seemed perfect for us.”
