Their big winery bash—filled with

family, friends, and faith—cost this

Cali couple way more than they

expected. But it was worth every penny.

Janice Rho, 29, and Jonathan Lee, 32, who met at a church
retreat in 2013, knew their wedding would be about celebrat-
ing their Baptist beliefs while surrounded by their nearest and
dearest. The only problem? Fitting them all in one place. “I
wanted a traditional church wedding, but we couldn’t find a
space that would accommodate 250-plus guests,” Janice says.
So they took it outside, choosing Nella Terra Cellars, a hilly
vineyard 15 minutes from their home in Dublin, California.
On April 4 , 2015, they were married under a vine-wrapped
pergola by the pastor of their church, who also happens to
be the bride’s brother-in-law. “Our friend played the guitar,
and we all sang hymns,” says the bride. “It was so amazing
to hear our guests sing together.” After, a friend—from,
you guessed it, church!—introduced the newly weds for their
first dance, to Ella Fitzgerald’s “Dream a Little Dream of Me.”
But the party really started with the bouquet and garter
toss. “It’s a family tradition to give money to whoever catches
them,” Janice says. “We put up $50 for each one, and the
competition was fierce!”
