Family bonds
It was awesome to read
“Extreme parenting: Mike’s
little adventurers” (WD, Aug
26). With Mike’s passion for
extreme travel experiences
being passed on to his
children, it definitely must
make holiday time very
exciting. These trips will
broaden their outlook on
life, and having that one-
on-one bonding time with
their dad must add to the
enjoyment. Their travels
will no doubt build self-
confidence, enthusiasm for
life and empathy for those
not so fortunate. However,
kids who don’t have such
a “high-octane” lifestyle can
also create close bonds with
family by investing in quality
time together.

Have your SAY

I really enjoyed the
“Family guys” article
about the relationships
of some of our celebrities
with their dads and kids
(WD, Aug 26). It’s so great to
see how hands-on they are in
their whanau, and how they
actively make time to spend
together. It was a real contrast
to read the story outlining
the tumultuous upbringing
that musician Ladi6 had.
What a wonderful tale of
redemption. Her father Vic
clearly continued the cycle of
violence that he himself
endured, but showed great
courage in turning his life
around and starting a charity
to help other victims of
domesticviolence.Thanks
for sharingtheirstory.
