HUNTING FOR PATERSONS

22 GUNSOFTHEOLDWEST

  1. This early Paterson No. 5 Holster Model
features the style of scrollwork and silver
inlays that were used on the America
Remembers No. 2 and No. 5 reproductions.
The accessories are equally hard to find
today. 2. An original lap-desk gun was the
basis for this reproduction handcrafted by
Jim Lockwood and Kevin Jourdan. It’s the
first antique-finished No. 2 Ehlers model
offered by America Remembers in the first
series from 2001 to 2004. 3. The original
Ehlers No. 2 model shows the alterations that
were made to Colt’s original design. Note the
    round-shoulder cylinder and loading lever.

  2. The last of the blued first-series AmericaRemembers No.2 Belt Model revolvers wasusedasthe prototype for the second-series
engraved, ivory-handle models introducedin2004. Doug Turnbull did all of the bluing whileDan Chesiak created the grips. 2. The
second-series No. 2 Improved Belt Modelgunscame with 5-inch barrels and accessories.Alongwith a Colt blued finish, the screws were
nitre-blued and the ivory grips were hand carved. 3. One of the second-series guns was done with a slightly aged finish for grip-maker
Dan Chesiak, who made a copy of the original carved grips with silver spots from Samuel Colt’s personal No. 5 Holster Model.
