più adatte aglispazi comuni».Una scelta progettua-
le rilevante è rappresentata dallaparticolare coper-
tura in cuiè “ritagliata” la corte-giardino, secondo

DESIGNEDFOR A FAMILY OF FIVEthat occupies the
top two floors and roof of a historic buildingin the
Tribecaneighbourhoodof New York (with a total
internal area of 550 square metres and an external
one of 140).The design is by Young Projects,a New
York studio that works on the visual arts and product
and interior design, foundedand headed by Bryan
Young. The layout of the apartmenthas beenradi-
cally reorganized in order to place the living area on
the 14thfloorand the sleepingone on the 13thbecause,
explains Young, “the openviews of the upper level
are more appropriate for the commonspaces.” A sig-
nificantdesign choice has beenthe distinctive roof
out of which the courtyard-garden has been“cut”,
