ishing three existing and long disused outbuildings and re-
placing them with the two new constructions, containing
the play and living area and a guesthouse with kitchen and
bathrooms, connected to each other by a woodenwalkway.
The sliding glass walls allow the two rooms to be turned
into a single large space during the day, while at night
privacy is assured by opaque curtains. The structure of
wood,glass and brick and the natural light (which also fil-
ters through the characteristic broken pitched roof) help to
make the link with nature even stronger. The prefabricated
system made it possible to construct the extension in a very
short time. The architects have designedmodules that can
easily be replicated in similar situations, on the surfaces of
lakesoronthecoast.Inthelake,whichissuitableforswim-
ming, steppingstones unite the grassy bankwith the part
reserved for the guesthouse. Tree ferns growing to a height
of up to three metres act as a backdrop and, at sunset, il-
luminated arcs of water create plays of light, producing a
