are different from the usual ones, such as walkways, staircases
and balconies immersed in a setting filled with vegetation. Here

not just a reference to the age of fitness. The dimension of design
that most interests UNStudio is closely boundup with experience
through touch, through the body. It is precisely this physical ma-
trix – it is no coincidencethat van Berkel is also a painter – that
is at the root of a highly sculptural and recognizable language
made up of elusive volumes, ribbonelementsand dynamic sur-
faces that couple metal and colour in pursuit of “a transforma-
tive architecture that is able to interact in an organic way with
people and is inspired by the theories of Sigfried GideoninSpace,
Time, Architecture.” Thus,for example, the aesthetics of the fu-
ture is expressed almost in the mannerof the Bolidist movement
by the residential high-rise for young families built at Islington
