“Free-form pools are out and the current trends are now

leaning towards straight lines, long as well as square lap

pools,” says Max van den Bergh from SA Gunite Pools.

Elmar du Plessis, the owner of Splendid Pools, explains that

home owners are looking at mostly rectangular shapes with

internal hot pools that allow the “water to cover the internal

walls, which provides a seamless look”.

Ricky Solomons, the owner of Pool Squad, also notes that the

current trends have shown an increase in smaller pools, with home

owners opting for 3m x 5m sized pools that are easier to maintain.
