Time to make that dream road trip! Clemson is the
favorite to win another national title, so we’ve
created a scenic tour of the U.S. featuring storied
programs we would love to see Clemson play. Test
your college football—and geography—smarts
by using the clues and the word bank to figure
out the stops on the Tigers’ trip!
By Ethan Thomas
STOP #1Unhappily for this team that
plays in a place called Happy Valley,
Saquon Barkley is no longer racking up
yards here.
STOP #2 When this Midwestern team,
whose nickname is its state’s official
tree, is doing well, players’ helmets are
covered in stickers.
STOP #3 This Big Ten school plays in
the Big House in a state that’s shaped
like a mitten.
STOP #4 Clemson visits the Hoosier
state but not to play IU.
STOP #5 This one takes the Tigers about
as far northwest as you can go in the
Lower 48. Hope it doesn’t rain!
STOP #6 Another matchup in the Pacific
Northwest, against a team that regularly
rotates its green-and-yellow uniforms.
STOP #7 Everything is bigger in this
state, where the quirky capital city’s
residents sport T-shirts vowing to keep
their town “weird.”
STOP #8 Losing the last two Heisman
winners to the NFL has to be tough, but
this Crimson and Cream team knows how
to win.
STOP #9 Chomp! Chomp! The Gators are
lurking in the Swamp!
STOP #10Now, on to Athens—the one
in SEC country, not the one in Greece!
STOP #11 Clemson has battled this
rival, which plays in a city named for a
Native American chief, for the national
title in three out of the last four years.
STOP #12 It’s Tiger vs. Tiger at this
bayou school.
STOP #13 If they’ve piled up enough W’s,
coach Dabo Swinney’s squad will head
to this state, known for its grand national
park, to play in the College Football
Playoff semis.
STOP #14 To cap off a dream season,
Clemson revisits this state for the
national championship game. It’s in a
city famous for its French Quarter and
Mardi Gras celebrations.
