2018 RECORD: 11– 5
In 2018, Tom Brady led New England to its worst record
since ’09. If you’re a Patriots hater, you love hearing that.
The only problem for Patriots haters is that New England’s
worst record since ’09 was 11–5, and the team still won
the Super Bowl. The G.O.A.T. comes back in ’19 to try
to add a seventh ring to his collection. Losing one of his
best targets—TE Rob Gronkowski, who retired—hurts, as
does the departure of slot receiver Chris Hogan. But in the
18 years since Brady became the starting quarterback in
New England, he’s always found new players to pass to.
The Patriots have a few guys who can help make up for
James White. He rushed for 425 yards and was Brady’s
most frequent target, catching a team-high 87 passes for
751 yards and seven touchdowns. White has a history
of thriving in big situations—see his three touchdowns
in Super Bowl LI. He’ll be relied on heavily, as will
veteran Julian Edelman, who had 850 yards receiving
in 12 games.
Another asset that will help Brady is the run game.
