(Ben Green) #1

T

his route was created
to push boundaries, to
test your riding abilities
on some of the toughest
roads the UK has to
offer. Some of the climbs featured here
are enough to have even the fittest
riders slow to a crawl or zig-zag across
the tarmac just to keep going. But don’t
let that scare you — this route features
some inspiring climbs that are nothing
short of legendary on the British scene.
The slopes of Rosedale Chimney
might have blown apart the Milk R ace
peloton, but get the right gearing on
your bike and they can also be enjoyed.
The North York Moors National
Park is a place of breathtaking beauty
that ’s best enjoyed on two wheels.
With countless places to visit and
plenty of places to stay, this route is
just one of many you could enjoy in
the area.

Reasons to ride

1

Getting away from it
Avoid holiday season and you
could have many of these roads
all to yourself, save for a few sheep.
The North York Moors are as desolate
as they are beautiful and as such are
perfect for riding. The road surfaces
are pretty good too. Be sure to pack all
your essentials and be self-sufficient, as
calling for help might not be an option.

2

Bragging rights
We’re confident this is one of
the toughest 100km routes in
the UK , so get round it in good shape
and you can give yourself a pat on the
back. Then you can challenge your
mates to go and do the same. This is one
ride you’ll want to log online and let
everyone see what you’ve ridden.
