(Ben Green) #1
INSPIRE YOUR RIDING

CW says

At the right time of year (out of tourist
season) and in OK weather (OK being
a relative term in this sense) you won’t
find better roads to ride on. R iding in
Snowdonia is to ride in the mountains.
The climbs may not feature A lpine
haripins, but the three featured in this
route are the closest you’ll get in the
United K ingdom.

Caernarfon
When we rode this route we stayed
at the Meiford Country House, just
outside Caernarfon, but there are
plenty of B& Bs and rentals in and
around the famous tourist town that
overlooks the Menai Strait. There
are plenty of places to eat too; we
recommend the Black Boy Inn
for its great choice of food.
Evolution Bikes in Bangor is
just down the road should you
need anything.

Llanberis
You can’t go to Llanberis and
not visit Pete’s Eats, a brightly
painted cafe and bunkhouse
world famous in climbing
circles. Accommodation isn’t
luxurious (head to the Royal
Victoria Hotel for that) but
the cooked breakfasts are to
die for. They also do tea in pint
mugs — perfect for the end of
your ride.
