INSPIRE YOUR RIDING

CW says

Leith Hill and the North Downs are
a mecca for cyclists at the weekend,
and you’ve only got to ride a few
miles of its heavily wooded slopes
to work out why it ’s a favourite of
CW staffers and a location for our
traditional end-of-season sportive.
Whisper it, but Leith Hill is a
bigger, better, harder climb than
Box Hill and a much better place to
spend your ride time.

Dorking
At the foot of the north side of
Leith Hill, this old market town is
well used to two-wheeled visitors.
There’s a Travelodge there if it ’s
functional you’re after, while the
White Horse Hotel is right on the
high street. The Burford Bridge
Hotel and Wotton House offer
more upmarket accommodation.
For eating, the town centre is full
of restaurants, from well-known
chains to good local curry houses.

Guildford
A little further away from Leith
Hill than Dorking, but with more
options on accommodation and
food. The Guildford Manor Hotel
and Spa has options if you’re
travelling with others, as does
the Royal Berkshire. There are
plenty of chain hotels as well.
The town’s station is well-serviced
from Reading, London and
Gatwick airport.
