You meet new people in many places.
You meet them at work or at parties.
Sometimes friends introduce them
to you. Be friendly. Show interest in
them. Ask them questions. You can ask,
“Where are you from?” You can ask
about their job. You can ask about likes
and dislikes. Listen to their answers.
And let them ask you questions. Then
you can know more about each other.

Conversation A
(in the Jungle Café)
Susie: Hey, Matt. Are you OK?
Matt: Yes and no. My sister’s husband
is in town. He’s coming here.
Susie: What’s the problem?
Matt: He’s here for a visit. I don’t know
him very well. What can we do?
Susie: What are his interests?
Matt: I don’t know.
Susie: Well, ask him about his likes and
dislikes.
Matt: I can do that.

Well, ask him about his likes and
dislikes.
