Becausechildrengrowsoquickly,it’simportanttocreatea spacethatwillevolve
withtheirearlyyears.“Oneshouldplanfora longerperiodoftime,”saysJasonYung,
architectandfounderof JasonCarolineDesign,addingthata child’sspaceneednotlook
likea kindergarten.“Avoidturningthechild’sroomintoa brightandcolourfulplayground
withpaddedwallpanelsrightafteryouhavea newborn.”
Instead,create flexibilitybyinvestingin timelesspieces, and then slowly involve the
childrenwhenthey’reolder.AmritaKhanna,founderandprincipaldesignerat ZipCode
888,saysshe’s“increasinglycomingacrossteensandtweensrequestingroomsthey
can grow into while reflectingtheir youth –they don’t want rooms that seem childish.”
Theywon’tbechildlikeforlong,afterall.Untilthen,however,thisis theroomthey’ll
knowtobehome.Designit tobea fun,safehaven,andonedaythey’lllookbackonit
withfondnessaswellasgratitude–hopefully–for being a key part of their childhood.

的睡房毋須打造成幼稚園一樣。「孩子出生後，盡量不要把他的房間變成鋪滿牆墊的
繽紛遊樂場。」
家長應選購經典而可塑性高的家品以提高靈活性，然後隨著孩子長大慢慢讓他們
參與設計過程。Zip Code 888創辦人兼首席設計師Amrita Khanna說，她遇到「愈來愈
多年青人要求自己的房間要有青春感，同時亦能在他們長大後變得成熟，即是說房間
看起來不能幼稚。」
畢竟，小孩子的幼年期終歸有限，但在他們長大前，這將會是他們視為家的地方。
把空間設計成有趣和安全的處所，希望將來一天他們會懷著欣慰和感恩，回望這個在童
年擔當要角的天地。
