  1. COLOURS AND TEXTURES

Colour is an excellent ingredient in any kitchen, and because it is such a dynamic
space, it allows you to be more playful with pigments than you might be elsewhere. As
with cooking, it is an area that encourages, and rewards, creativity. “Don’t be afraidto
work with colour, especially on your kitchen cabinets,” says Ellie. “Colours trendingat
the moment include mid to deep greys, blue tones such as navy and shades ofgreen
from forest through to sage and peppermint,” she says, adding, “This is a greatway
to inject personality into your kitchen and really create the perfect place to cook.”
Hong Kong-based interior designer, stylist and curator Aviva Duncan agrees:
“I love burnt orange, rust and greens in a kitchen as these have a direct referenceto
nature.” As with every area of the home, balance is key in the kitchen. “Darkpaint
colours are becoming more popular because they help hide dust and imperfections,”
says Alain Wong, founder and design director of Hong Kong interior design company
Comodo Interior & Furniture Design. “However, to create a spaciousness in the kitchen
area, balancing the dark and light colors is very important as well,” he adds.

色彩是廚房最好的設計材料,在這個動感滿滿的空間內,不妨運用未能在其他
房間派上用場的色系,自由發揮創意。「用色方面可大膽一點,特別是廚櫃。」Ellie
說:「目前流行的色調包括中至深度的灰色、深藍色系,還有深綠、草綠和薄荷綠等
的綠色系。」她補充:「為廚房注入個人特色是很好的做法,打造最適合你的理想下
廚空間。」
