Wis., has seen many steam locomotives in its
time, but nothing like this one on July 25. The

paused at Proviso Yard and then headed out
UP’s Geneva subdivision on the former
Chicago & North Western main line. At
Elmhurst, crowds lined the tracks and packed
the Metra station platforms on both sides.
(^4) No. 4014 arrives for its three-day display at
the Provo Training Center in West Chicago. A
passing Metra train and huge crowds greeted
the locomotive. Over the weekend, an estimat-
ed 20,000 people came to view the steam loco-
motive. From here, on July 30, the train headed
west, stopping in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Des
Moines; Omaha; North Platte; and finally home
