BEHIND THE SHOT: The image of this John Dory (Zeus faber) was taken during a winter night

dive at Marina Grande in the Gulf of Naples. This is my favorite place to dive because it is five

minutes from my home and I can walk to the water from the beach. It’s very calm in the win-

ter, and it is the ideal place to dive in search of photo subjects that take advantage of the

darkness of the cold water to return to more easily accessible depths, where it is possible to

photograph them closely.

CAMERA GEAR: Nikon D850 with Nauticam NA-D850 housing; Micro Nikkor 60mm lens in

macro port; two Ikelite DS161 strobes
