schooljaffle(a.k.a.theindoorbraaibroodjie).
Tomaketheperfectjaffle:
Brushbothsidesofyourfavouritebread
generouslywithmeltedbutter.(Sliced
whitebreadworksreallywell,butwealso
loveWoolworthsoat-and-honeybreadfor
sweetjaffles.)Addyourfillingandsandwich
together.Carefullyplaceinthejafflemaker,
closeandplaceovertheopenflameofthe
braaiora gashob.Cookfor4–5minuteson
eachsideuntilgoldenbrownandcrispy.
Inside-out cheese-and-ham jaffle
Gruyère ¼ cup grated
gypsy ham 2 slices
Parmesan ¼ cup grated
sea salt and freshly ground black
pepper, to taste
Fill the sandwich with Gruyère and ham.
DividetheParmesaninhalfandsprinkle
ononesideofthesandwich.Placecheese-
sidedowninthejafflemakerandsprinkle
theremainingParmesanontheotherside
ofthesandwich,thenclosetotoast.

Nutella-and-raspberry jaffle
Nutella 2 T
raspberries (or sliced strawberries) 5–8
icing sugar, for dusting
Spread Woolworths oat-and-honey bread
with Nutella, dot with berries and sandwich
to toast. Dust with icing sugar to serve.

Sweet cinnamon apple pie jaffle
small Pink Lady apples 3, cored and
diced
honey 2 T
cinnamon 1–2 t
cinnamon stick 1
water 1 t
brown sugar 1 t
vanilla ice cream, for serving
Combine all the ingredients except
the ice cream in a saucepan. Stir and
w cook until sticky. Allow to cool slightly
before making jaffles using Woolworths oat-
and-honey bread. Toast, then serve warm
with the ice cream. Serves 2 to 3
