Gatland will need the lock to be at his talismanic

best in Japan. He’s formed a solid partnership with

young Cory Hill and the pair will need to ensure

Wales’ set-piece stands up - it will likely get a stern

examination against the Georgians first-up.

Position: Hooker

Club: Scarlets

Age: 32

Such was the demand at club level that the Scarlets

skipper was pressed into action in the back-row

last season but expect to see him as a

near-constant figure in the middle of Wales’

front-row in Japan.

His lineout throwing has helped Gatland build a

formidable set-piece, while Owens ability as a ball

carrier also makes him a valuable asset around the

park.
