hen OK! caught up with Simon
Gregson and his family four
years ago, the actor – who’s
played Coronation Street’s Steve
McDonald for 30 years – was over the moon
that he and his wife Emma were expecting
again! Emma was pregnant with a baby
brother for their sons Alfie and Harry, who
were eight and six at the time.
Ever the joker, Simon revealed of adding a
third boy to the mix: ‘Obviously the cosmos
has decided that we are having a full Formula
1 race team. We have two drivers already and now we have a back-up
driver/head of mechanics on the way!’
‘It will just be the three amigos!’ added Emma of their brood.
But although the couple were over the moon about their pregnancy,
their happy news was tinged with sadness, as they revealed that they were
originally expecting twins. Emma explained: ‘We had to go to the doctor as
I wasn’t very well at the beginning. I had really bad morning sickness. I just
didn’t feel quite right so I went to the hospital’s early pregnancy unit. They
checked me out. We found
out that it was twins – there
were two eggs in different
sacs... but sadly only one of
the twins survived.’
But reflecting on their loss,
the expectant mum explained
they felt grateful to be able
to welcome one newborn
son. ‘We’re very lucky to have
this one,’ she said.
Emma and Simon had
previously told OK! that they
weren’t planning any more
children, and Simon was quick
to reveal what changed his
mind. ‘Women always get their
own way,’ laughed the star.
And we may well see
another Gregson on the
horizon, as the couple
admitted they liked the
idea of a daughter. Simon
revealed: ‘That would be
nice. Emma has such a
fantastic relationship with
her own mum. I would love
Emma to have a little girl.
If I could pluck her from
the stars and give her to
Emma, I would. Never say
never, I guess!’hbkOK!‘We’re very lucky to have
