L

ast week I turned 30, and Pete
completely surprised me with a white
Range Rover as a birthday present! I was
so shocked – I honestly couldn’t believe
it. He gave me my birthday card [bottom
centre], which said to open the front door [far
right] for my present, and the car was parked
on the driveway [right]. I joked that I thought
he had forgotten my birthday, but really he
had been planning this for weeks! It was an
incredibly thoughtful gift. Some people are
scared of turning 30 but I don’t really mind.
I’ve completed my family, I’m
married and I’m working so I
feel like I’ve kind of ticked off
most of my major life goals!
It’s nice now that I can focus
on my career as the kids are
getting older, so that is my
main aim over the next
few years.
Earlier in the week, Millie
and I went to see Pete
in Grease The Musical in
Birmingham. It was such a
brilliant show, the cast are
so talented. Pete [right] was
incredible too – Millie couldn’t
quite work out that it was

her dad on stage! I actually
haven’t seen Pete for more
than a few hours at a time
over the last few weeks
as we’ve been so busy, so
it was lovely to stay over
after Grease and spend
the day together. He had a
really good time in Croatia
filming a cooking segment
for Lorraine. Croatia looked
amazing, I was very jealous
I couldn’t
go as I was
working too.
Pete
recently spoke
about suffering 20
panic attacks a day
at the height of his
anxiety. One in four
people in any given
year will experience
some kind of mental
health issue, so
it’s always good
when anyone in the
public eye shares
their story.

S

tacey Solomon recently took her son Rex
with her to her first full day back at work [left]
and spoke about how lucky she feels as not a
lot of women can do that. She wrote: ‘This is an
appreciation post for all of those mothers who
have to leave their babies and go back to work.’
If I’m honest I feel the opposite to Stacey – I’m
full of appreciation for mums who take their kids
to work! I think it must be tricky trying to work
and look after your kids at the same time, so
I take my hat off to Stacey! For me, it works
well that when I’m at home I’m totally focused
on being a mum, and at work I’m focused on
work. Having done a bit of both, I think they are
equally challenging. I like the balance I have at
the moment with work and home which allows
me to also spend time with the kids.

elays to see GPs have reportedly hit
a new record with it now taking 14.8
days to wait for a non-urgent appointment
[below]. The problem is a combination of
not enough doctors and a rising demand.
I think there’s becoming more of a role for
Skype doctors. As much as I don’t agree
with it – as I think as doctors, a lot of what
we do is picking
up on clues
and physically
examining a
patient – the NHS
is so stretched that
maybe it could
take some of the
pressure off. OK!
