As a mum of two
girls, is being a
strong female role
model important,
Natalie?
Definitely. I try my best! I’d never say negative
things about myself in front of them. Not long
ago, Marley said: ‘This top makes me look
fat.’ I thought, where have you got that from?
I had to step in and it was quite a complicated
conversation. Her hair was a thing for a while,
but I knew how to handle that as I went through
that. A lot of her friends have long, straight hair
and she went through a phase of asking: ‘Why
isn’t it long? Why can’t it be in certain styles?’
So I got some books like The Mega Magic Hair
Swap! by Rochelle Humes, which really help.

Henri, what did you think of the Lionesses’
performance in the World Cup this summer?
I thought they did the country proud. It was
great to see the whole country behind them. I
think it’s just the start of what they can do.

Arsenal players Mesut Ozil and Sead
Kolasinac have taken out 24-hour security
following threats against them after they
were targeted by car-jackers last month. Do
you worry about similar security threats?
Natalie: I get a bit scared in the house,
especially when Henri’s not here. Me and
Marley put the house on lockdown. Henri had
guard dogs until we moved in.
Henri: I had to get rid of them because I wasn’t
always here and I couldn’t leave them with the
girls and the baby, it would have been too much.
But it’s something we’re considering again now.

You’re fundraising for your friend’s son Ryley
to have treatment in the US to help treat
cerebral palsy. Has becoming a father made
you see situations like that differently?
Henri: Definitely. Just sitting down with his
parents makes you realise how much of a toll
it takes on them. They have two girls too. Ryley
loves football and his dad wants to be able to
kick a ball about with him. That’s the dream.

To be able to walk, he has to keep having
Botox in his hamstrings. He’s going to the US
in 18 months for a procedure that should help
more permanently, so we’re holding a golf day
and planning a family fun day to help raise
money for the surgery.
