WHERESHOULDISTAY?
Less than a 30 minute-drive from the airport, OK! checked in to the
AC Hotel by Marriott Cape Town Waterfront. The new all-glass-and-
steel hotel has a sleek, modern design with a small rooftop pool.
It has an ideal location, just a short walk – or complimentary boat
shuttle – to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, the city’s entertainment
epicentre. Most of the 88 spacious and airy guest rooms have
unbeatable vistas – we were greeted with stunning views of Table
Mountain when we drew back our curtains.

WHERECANIDINEANDBESEEN?
Make the V&A Waterfront your first port of call as you can dine, eat,
socialise and visit museums such as the Two Oceans Aquarium. Grab
an outside table at Harbour House for incredible fish – we loved the
seafood pappardelle, and washed it down with a crisp local sauvignon
blanc, and a side order of harbour views!
Housed in an old grain warehouse you’ll find the Zeitz MOCAA, the
largest museum of contemporary African art in the world. Above the
museum, The Silo is a boutique hotel with an industrial-chic design
and eclectic décor. Head to the Willaston Bar, on the hotel’s sixth floor,
to admire the sunset from the floor-to-ceiling windows over cocktails.
Locals and tourists alike flock to Neighbourgoods Market every
Saturday at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock. Grab some dim sum at
Silk Road, seafood at Ocean Jewels and quench your thirst at Wendy’s
Smoothies, before cooling off with an ice cream from Short & Curly’s.

WHATELSECANIDO?
Visiting a vineyard is definitely a must in South Africa, and there are
hundreds to choose from in the Cape Winelands, an umbrella term
encompassing some of the famous vineyard areas including Stellenbosch,
Constantia and Franschoek, a short drive from Cape Town. OK! visited
96 Winery Road Restaurant in the beautiful mountain countryside of
Helderberg, where we tucked into springbok carpaccio and oven-roasted
kingklip fish from the seasonal menu, as well as sampling several wines from
their 250-strong wine menu. If you wish to learn (or sample!) more, visit their
vineyard next door, which is famous for its award-winning Chenin Blanc.
