HERB GARDENS
Given these guys don’t grow very big, whynot
have a little planter on your windowsill or even
your back door step so you have herbs on handatall times?
It also adds an element of interest to your cosy abode!
“You can grow herbs in reasonably shady [areas] in pot,”
says Adam. “Think coriander, oregano, parsley and mint.”FRUIT T REES
“Many fruit trees do really well in pots, so it’s easy to have
a portable garden if you need to move sooner than expected,”
explains Adam. “Look for the new generation of pots made
from composite materials. They’re super lightweight and
durable, making them easy to move.”
As for fruit tree
varietals, your best bet is
peaches, apples and
limes, and just about
anything in small forms.
“They’re perfect for
pots on balconies or
decks and in courtyards,”
Adam adds.GROWING POT ENT IAL
If you do want to make some minor or major garden
additions, you are within your rights to ask your landlord.
“Have a chat with the managing agent detailing what
you have in mind,” says Adam. “Most property owners are
happy to have you looking after the garden, but the last
thing you want to do is remove or replace their prized plants.”Words: Gabriella Del Grande.RENTER’S
