Creative Knitting – August 2019

(John Hannent) #1
TYPE OF FELTING
Knitted machine felted

STEP ONE
The bag is knitted using two
strands of yarn held together as
one and is worked in rounds from
the handle down, with the bowl
of the bag knitted from stitches
picked up from waste yarn.
Leave long ends/tails (10-15cm)
when changing yarn colours or
embroidering on items to be felted.
Tie these ends together and weave
through the back of work; loose
ends can unravel during the felting
process and holes may form.

HANDLES AND TOP OF BAG
Using 9mm circular needles and
holding 2 strands of CC2 as one,
cast on 93 st using knit cast on
method.
To create the twisted mobius strap,
turn your cast on row (around the
needle), so you have one twist before
joining ends together to create the
round. Form the round by slipping
the last cast on stitch over the first
cast on stitch, place stitch marker to
indicate end of round. 92 st.
