The goddess of R&R

ROXY
BOURDILLON
VISITS
THE GREEK
ISLAND OF
MYKONOS
FOR SELF-
CARE, SEA
VIEWS AND
CHAMPAGNE

I’m sipping chilled white wine,
reclining on the sun lounger on
my balcony, and luxuriating in a
panoramic view of Mother Nature’s
finest work. The most taxing decision
I’ll have to make all day is whether or
not to take a dip in my own private
hot tub. A moment’s contemplation
in the midday Mediterranean sun
and I decide why the hell not? After
all, I’ve never had my own private hot
tub before. Heck, I’ve never so much
as dipped my little toe in someone
else’s hot tub before. Surely it would
be rude not to at least give it a go. I’ve
just arrived for a long weekend on the
island of Mykonos and oh, my Greek
goddess, I needed this.
I can’t quite believe that just yes-
terday I was in sweaty, stressed-out,
smelly old London, on a rammed tube
carriage, my face pressed up danger-

ously close to a stranger’s pungent
armpit. Is the never-ending grind
knackering you right out? Are you,
quite frankly, frazzled from the 24/7
stress of your nine-to-five? Then I can
recommend no better remedy than a
blissful stay at Kouros Hotel & Suites
(kouroshotelmykonos.gr). It’s five-star
luxury with bells on. It’s all so chic
and romantic, I feel like I’m on honey-
moon with myself. This stupendous
place is a salve for my weary soul. As
I soak up the vitamin D and discover
the joys of the button that makes the
water go all bubbly, I feel the stresses
of city life melting away. I lean back in
my(!) jacuzzi, take another – admit-
tedly slightly smug – sip, and Face-
Time my girlfriend in disbelief at the
glow-up my life just got.
I’m here with an all-female group
and I’m not exaggerating when I say

that every one of them is glorious.
We’re all equally giddy over our
spectacular surroundings, and what
better way to bond than over sunset
cocktails with a sea view? Every night
we dine al fresco at Kouros’ poolside
restaurant. The vibe is traditional
Greek flavours with a modern twist.
We marvel at the majestic backdrop
and get merry on one too many
Mykonos Tikis.
When we venture out to explore
Mykonos town, I feel like I’m on
the set of Mamma Mia. We wander
through the labyrinth of winding
streets, and discover the wonders of
Little Venice, so named because the
buildings go right up to the waterfront
like the famous Venetian canals. It’s
all exceptionally aesthetically pleas-
ing. I feel comfortable everywhere I go
on the island. Mykonos is notoriously
