VVA L and I have just finished managing
aa motel in Cooma which is located near
the Snowy Mountains 120 kms south
oof Canberra. One of the attractions in
CCooma, especially for people like us, is
FFlynn’s Wrecking Yard, which covers
sseveral acres and contains the remains of
mmany vehicles with ages ranging from the
11 930s to the present day. It is an orderly
pplace as most of these relics are arranged
inn areas of their makers’ names. For the
small fee of $10, I spent a fascinating hour small fee of $10, I spent a fascinating hour
wwandering around following the tracks of
those who had been before me. There are
aa lot of old cars there, some have been in
aaccidents but many of those which hadn’t
sstill seemed to be in reasonable condition
cconsidering the time that they had been
exposed to the elements. I think that in the exposed to the elements. I think that in th
hands of an expert some of them could be hands of an expert some of them could be
restored as while missing parts, the bodiesrestored as while missing parts, the bodies
appeared to have just surface rust. I spoke appeared to have just surface rust. I spoke
to the owner, Wayne Flynn, who said that
oowing to the climate in the area they had
ssurvived well. At the time he was sending
aan old fender which appeared to be in
ggood condition to a client in Queensland.
Another very good find. I’ve attached some Another very good find. I’ve attached some
phphotos to give you an idea of the place.
