NZ Hot Rod – September 2019

50 > NZ HOT ROD SEPTEMBER 2019

We changed a few things along the way, removed the tilt
front and added a grille for a different look. Getting back
out on the strip was nerve racking as I wasn’t sure what to
expect with the new combo, but it felt so good being back
out there. We had a few meetings of sorting little issues
out and knew that was to be expected and Lindsay was
always there to watch over and let me know if changes
were needed, always telling me to step it up and to stop
being a Nana haha or I will kick your arse. The Pop is
awesome to race, its set up so well and I feel very safe in
the driver’s seat. I have been very lucky to drop from my
very first run of 15 secs to running in Super Street’s 11 sec
bracket then into the 10 second bracket in Super Sedan.
With a bit of a push and some ear persuasion from Lindsay
and Dave I pushed through with my PB 9.8@136 mph and I’m
super stoked. I do know the Pop has heaps more potential for
the next race driver. I have decided to retire and concentrate
on finishing the Dodge pickup we are building for cruising.
