DAVE Best will be hoping he can show the Aussies how he can stand
his Model A coupe on one wheel at Sydney Dragway this month. HRM
photographer Siggy took this photo with just the LH rear tyre on the strip
at this year’s Nostalgia Drags. Dave, GT Norris and Craig Mullan have been
invited to compete in the Gasser Class at the first round of the World Fuel
Altered Champs at Eastern Creek in Sydney. GT will compete in his Henry J
and Craig in his Larkness Monster Studebaker. For these two cars, there are
very few Gasser owners who can claim their car has raced in three countries
all separated by “water“. GT, of course, is probably the only driver who has
raced his Gasser in three separate countries. It’s a lot easier for a Frenchman
or German who just has to drive across a border. From what we’ve heard,
there appears to be a large contingent heading to Australia to cheer on the
Kiwis on Saturday the 21st of September.

readers to see if you can help Mark
Gover identify these roadster body
parts. He bought them a few years
ago and apparently they came from
Kansas, USA. He’s been online trying to
identify against 1930s model American
Roadsters but so far all the research
comes close to is a 1931 Ford Model A
or a 1932 Ford which it is not. It was
thought to be a Chevy but the front
and the rear don’t seem to match. It is
a rumble seat model and perhaps the
front may be from a 1929 Chevy truck?
