ind the most efective way
to do this is apply a base coat
of RLM 71 then put a strip of
masking tape down and mist
along the edge with RLM 70.
When you peel the masking
strip of you are left with the
appearance of splintering.
Next is the tricky part which
is the application of the white
patches freehand using an
airbrush to outline and ill
each individual patch.
Take your time and
have plenty of breaks,
I ind I need to be in
a relaxed frame of
mind when tackling
complex patterns such
as this. It also prevents strain
in your hand that can cause
you to make mistakes. The
next stage is to gloss up the
airframe in preparation for
application of the decals. In
the past I found ICM decals
to be very poor quality and
were prone to cracking and
breaking up. This is certainly
no longer the case as their
decals are second to none with
excellent colour saturation in
perfect register and a with a
beautifully thin carrier ilm.
They conform superbly to the
